Hi! It’s Elyse from Synoply, your synopsis of everything to do with the video. As the year comes to an end one of my favourite things to do is to watch the YouTube Rewind and so I decided that this is my first official year on YouTube and the year that I started Synoply so I wanted to start a tradition where I do my own rewind each year. This is going to be the 2017 Synoply Rewind.

It was an exciting start to the year. I spent my holidays brainstorming hundreds and hundreds of ideas for the name. I knew from day one that I didn’t want to start a channel under my own name. I knew I wanted to start a brand because one day, I wanted to build a business of it. On the 4th of January, I came up with the name “Synoply”. The reason I picked Synoply was that it was a combination of “synopsis” and “ly” added at the end. I wanted this channel to be a synopsis of a topic which was all going to be that video and business, but I wanted it to be my own unique trademark or brand and that’s how Synoply was picked.

Because I knew that I wanted Synoply to be a business, the next thing I did was on the 4th of April, I went and registered Synoply as a company and I very proudly have the company registration certificate in at my studio. I studied marketing at uni so I absolutely love branding and logos and things like that so the next step was actually to launch a competition on 99designs to have my logo designed and there were over 200 entries so it’s a tough decision, but I absolutely love the final logo and I hope that you guys do too but here are a few of the options that I had to pick through.

I believe in having a multi-channel approach to all content so I’m a big believer in having a website and a YouTube channel so from the 10th to the 15th of May, I built my own website and on the 15th of May, I wrote my very first blog post introducing Synoply into the world and telling people what they could expect from me and my YouTube channel which would be launching. When I decided to do YouTube, I was all in. I knew that I was going to need a space to be able to create videos on a regular basis and so on the 27th of June, I decided to convert my loft in the top of my house into a home YouTube studio and I also started filming my very first vlog that day because my first vlog was actually about setting up at the studio.

I am super excited because I’ve decided to convert this loft that I have at the top of my house into my home studio. Setting up the studio actually took longer than I expected. It took three months so it was the 21st of October before I could actually start filming.

Hi! Today is my very first day in the studio and I’m super excited because it’s been three months of work leading up to this and it’s finally ready to go and I’ve prepped and got all my video content ready that I want to film today.

I uploaded my first video which was my channel intro to YouTube about a week later.

It’s the 29th of October 2017 and right up to 6:30, I pressed upload on the first video for Synoply which is going to be my channel intro. Once that uploads, I’m going to press publish. I’m so very excited because this has been something that I’ve wanted to do so long.

I wasn’t really telling anyone about my channel but despite that, I managed to get my first subscriber and he was actually quite an interesting person and so I’ll show you the footage of getting my first subscriber.

Okay, it’s a 7th of November and I’m filming a quick video because I have to let you guys know I have my first subscriber. He’s a magician. It’s the most bizarre story but I was at the Melbourne Cup function at CUB today. There was this close hand magician. I freaking love magic and especially like close hand magic and so I was talking to him when I was filming and he was like what’s this setup you have because I was obviously testing gears today and so I was like I’ve started this channel and like this is what I do. And he’s like oh, what’s your channel? I was like ah I haven’t actually told anyone what it is yet but this is it and he ends up subscribing. So my first YouTube subscriber is a magician, which I think is actually a really cool story.

Like I said at the start of this video, I always knew Synoply was going to be a business but I just didn’t know what and so of course as I predicted on the 23rd of November, I came up with a concept for a product that I want to manufacture, which I am going to be launching through Kickstarter and I started my behind-the-scenes Kickstarter series where I am of vlogging the whole journey of getting this product to life.

I have decided to create an overhead smartphone filming rig. I’m obviously going to come up with a better name for it, but essentially it is going to be a piece of equipment that allows you to take flat lay photos on your smartphone really easily and also do like time lapses of you styling things and doing creative work essentially.

I worked non-stop editing and uploading and finally managed to catch up on the 23rd of December and that is when I shared my channel with all my family and friends.

It’s now the 30th of December so there’s officially only one more day of 2017 so I think it’s safe to give you my numbers. I promoted it officially a week ago and I have 56 videos up and I officially have 51 subscribers. I’m halfway there to get into my magic 100 to get my own URL so if you haven’t already subscribed, please do.

But for those of you who have subscribed and are supporting my channel, thank you so much. This has literally been a dream of mine to do for years and years and I’m so happy that I finally did it. I literally have had so much fun this year. Looking back has been really, really just an enjoyable experience and honestly, I’m so excited for 2018. I just don’t know where I will be at the end of next year and what I’ll be filming in my rewind for 2018. Once again thank you so much. I look forward to speaking with you all in the year. There are plenty of videos to come so hopefully you don’t get sick of me see you in the New Year.
